application process

Breadcrumbs
Applications received are held in Human Resources until the closing date. Each minimum qualification form is reviewed to determine eligibility for the position. Applications exhibiting the minimum qualifications are sent to the hiring department for review. Applicants with the highest skills and most relevant work history required for the position will be contacted by the department supervisor for interview and/or testing, as required. Testing can be in many forms, from a typing test to skills assessments or physical fitness assessment. The selection process can take from 3-14 weeks, depending on the position. If not selected for interview or testing, the applicant will be notified by mail after the hiring decision has been made. All inquiries regarding this process should be directed to the Department of Human Resources, 225 Newburyport Avenue, Altamonte Springs, Fl., 32701.

Application When No Positions Are Available

Application forms will not be accepted during these periods. Interested persons wishing to apply for employment may complete an Interest Card. Interest Cards can be obtained from the department of Human Resources or printed from the website. For positions currently available, you may call our 24 hour JOB opportunity line at (407) 571-8011. Application When Positions Are Available

Applications can be obtained from the Department of Human Resources or printed from the job listings page. A separate application is required for each position sought. Resumes are not accepted in lieu of a City application. All questions on the application should be answered completely. Each application includes a Minimum Qualification Information form which is used exclusively for initial qualification and must be legibly completed. Completed applications must be submitted to the Department of Human Resources prior to the closing date and time specified on the posting. Certificates, documentation and other related materials required for the position are the sole responsibility of the applicant.

Important: Make sure to complete the minimum qualification form (available from the job listings section of this website). Submit a completed application and minimum qualifications form to the department of Human Resources by the closing date/time.

Eligibility Lists

An eligibility list is established and used to fill future vacancies. Periodically, applications will be accepted to establish eligibility lists, usually in the Police Department. The job posting will clearly identify these positions. Although no openings may exist at that time, the applicant must successfully complete all tests and background checks which are required for the position.
