Cross-Connection Control
The purpose of the Cross-Connection Control Program (CCC) is to detect and control cross connections and prevent the back flow of contaminants or foreign substances through cross connections into the city of Altamonte Springs water distribution system, as required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

The Cross-Connection Control section is responsible for protecting the public potable water supply from the possibility of contamination or pollution by isolating actual and or potential cross connections in the water distribution system that could create backflow into the public potable water supply. We offer free inspections to determine if a hazard to the public potable water system exists on your property.

Should you need to install a backflow prevention device, they are available in many shapes and sizes. CCC staff will test residential backflow prevention devices at no cost to our customers. No matter how large or small a device may be each one serves the same purpose to prevent the backflow of contaminants into the city’s public water supply.

Backflow prevention devices called dual checks are installed on residential potable water meters where reclaimed water is available. The Cross-Connection Control staff installs and maintains these devices. The dual checks are changed out on a 5-year cycle.

Backflow Prevention Devices are mechanical devices that occasionally require maintenance. It may also be necessary to protect your backflow prevention device from theft, accidental destruction, and in winter even freezing temperatures could damage your device.
