Swimming lesson

Altamonte Springs Recreation operates a junior Olympic-size pool at Westmonte Park. The pool and aquatics program are staffed with American Red Cross certified lifeguards and water safety instructors. A variety of activities are available to both City residents and non-residents including swim lessons and open swim.

The outdoor pool is open to the public on Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays and select weekdays Memorial Day through Labor Day. The cost for open swim is $1 per child and $2 per adult. Seasonal pool passes are available for $25 for family (limit of five family members per household) and $15 for individuals.

Swim Lessons
Sessions run for two-week intervals with eight, 40-minute classes per session. Morning and evening classes are held Monday through Thursday. Classes are limited to six students with the exception of the Adult level and Learn-to-Swim Levels 4 and 5, which are limited to eight students. Classes are available to individuals ages 3 and up. The cost for swim lessons is $40 for City residents and $55 for non-residents. Please refer to the 2015 Aquatics Brochure for registration dates and session times. Splashball is an exciting program developed by USA Water Polo to introduce beginning swimmers ages 6 to 12 to water sports. This program is instructed by USA Water Polo certified coaches. Basic swimming skills are required. Splashball runs June 9 to August 13. Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Cost is $90 per participant, which includes a swimsuit and swim cap. Membership with the USA Water Polo Association is required ($35 per year). Visit to become a member.

Stingray Swim Team
The swim team is a fun way to build on skills obtained from Learn-to-swim lessons in a safe recreational environment. Basic swimming skills are required and the emphasis is on building stamina, learning racing starts and turns and competitive strokes. The swim team is open to all swimmers ages 6 to 12. The swim team session runs June 12 to August 14. Practices are held on Fridays from 8 to 10 a.m. Cost is $50 per participant, which includes a swimsuit and swim cap. Swim meets are scheduled at the end of the session either in the evening or on a Saturday morning to allow family and friends to attend and cheer on their favorite swimmers.

Dive-In Movie Nights
Dive into the movies at the outdoor pool. Admission is $3 per person (ages 3 and under are free). All children ages 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The pool opens at 7:30 p.m., and the movie begins at dark. Movie concessions are available for purchase.
