Hospice of the Comforter
Construction on Hospice of the Comforter's Center for Community Care Campus began in September 2003. The six-acre campus fronts both Central Parkway and Montgomery Road. The campus is home to a 25,000 sq. ft. Center for Community Care building, completed in 2004, that houses its administrative offices and nursing, counseling, education, volunteer and chaplain departments. The building offers a spacious community room for use by community groups to hold meetings and seminars.
Also on site will be a 16-bed Hospice House to serve patients without caregivers and those requiring a higher level of care in a home-like, safe and staffed environment. Construction on this inpatient facility is set to begin in 2006. In addition, Hospice of the Comforter’s Horizons Bereavement Center and home medical equipment warehouse share the remodeled office space in which the administrative offices were previously located.
Hospice of the Comforter, the 2nd largest nonprofit in Central Florida, is the only nonprofit hospice serving patients and their families living with an advanced illness in Seminole, Orange and Osceola counties. Hospice of the Comforter has provided more than $6 million in free care and served more than 10,000 families in Central Florida with physical, emotional and spiritual support.
