Breadcrumbs

The City of Altamonte Springs took dramatic steps in the 1980's to build the tools it needed to promote sustainable economic development and liveable community resources. It created a vested, area-wide Development of Regional Impact (DRI) and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) simultaneous with the creation of a Central Business District. The CRA is the City’s economic development agency. The DRI and CRA together allow the City to more directly partner with the private sector than traditional regulatory agencies typically can.

Our Central Business District is called Cranes Roost. Cranes Roost is a town center and business activity center built within a park. Cranes Roost is a lakeside setting with festivals and concerts within walking distance of the 1.2 million square foot Altamonte Mall.

Cranes Roost offers a lushly landscaped park featuring one mile of lighted pedestrian walkways, new roads, plenty of office space, hotels, restaurants and retail stores. Just 10 miles from downtown Orlando, Cranes Roost Altamonte is a community where people can work, shop and play close to home.

Cranes Roost is at the crossroads of Interstate 4 and State Road 436, two of the busiest regional arterial roadways in central Florida, and has tremendous access and visibility. Future transit service is slated to come directly to the heart of Cranes Roost. With bonuses, development intensity is available to a 4.0 floor area ratio and building heights exceed 40 stories.

Cranes Roost and the City’s Central Business District is an ideal location for developers seeking to maximize their investment.
