WATERING RESTRICTIONS INFORMATION

Recent changes in water restrictions issued by the St. Johns River Water Management District have some folks confused. You have probably seen or heard advertisements by the District that irrigation schedules have been reduced to one day a week during Eastern Standard Time. This is true – except for City of Altamonte Springs reclaimed water customers. In March 2009, the District amended Rule 40C-2 F.A.C. that governs residential and non-residential landscape irrigation for potable (drinking or private well) water users. This rule exempts reclaimed water users and allows the City to govern the use of this commodity. In order to provide all our residential and commercial customers with adequate amounts of reclaimed water, the City has an ordinance regulating its use. Please follow these links for the different irrigation restrictions including exceptions:

Reclaimed Water Customers

Non - reclaimed Water Customers (use of drinking water or a private well)

If you use any other source for irrigation or still have questions about when you can irrigate, please call our office at 407-571-8340 or email dmarshall@altamonte.org or visit the SJRWMD website: http://www.sjrwmd.com/wateringrestrictions.
