Code Compliance Officers In the City of Altamonte Springs we are committed to maintaining the health, safety, and beauty of our community. The City's Code Compliance Officers are dedicated to ensuring that these commitments are met by enforcing the codes and ordinances of the City.
Code Compliance/Commercial - contact TBD Code Compliance Office hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Complaints or inquiries may be made by e-mail to the Code Compliance Officers by clicking on their names. Be sure to include the location or address of the violation and a description of the violation. If you wish to receive a reply from our staff, include your name, phone number and e-mail address. Note that in compliance with "Government in the Sunshine" laws, all e-mail and information sent to the City becomes part of the public record and can be read by anyone who requests that privilege. Code Enforcement - Did You Know? Did you know that recreational equipment such as boats and boat trailers, campers, motor homes, etc. are permitted to be stored in residential areas? They should be parked in the side or rear yard (provided that no more than one side yard is used for this purpose), or stored in the garage. It is a violation of City Code to park recreational equipment in the street or in the front yard area. Did you know that the City of Altamonte Springs requires all businesses to obtain an Attention Getting Device Permit before setting up any banners, balloons or other similar advertising media? Portable trailer signs also require permits prior to setup. The City of Altamonte Springs requires property owners to maintain their property on a regular basis. Overgrown lots and property with an accumulation of debris can be cited for violation of Section 17-9 of the City Code. Section 17-10 provides the City with the authority to clean the lots and assess the owner for the costs. Code Enforcement Board Hearings are held the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 P.M. Upon a finding of violation, fines can be assessed up to $250.00 per day, per offense, for each day the violation is not corrected, or $500.00 per day for a repeat violation. Inspectors patrol the City on weekends and remove unlawful temporary signs (such as signs on power poles and at street intersections). Altamonte Springs Land Development Code Section 8.2.1.3 requires that the owner of a property, tenant, and/or agent shall be jointly and severably responsible for the maintenance of all landscaping in good appearance, free of refuse and debris. Commercial properties include industrial, office, and multi-family properties. Trash and Recycling Collection Area Enclosure Maintenance - This handout has been prepared by the City to assist people in understanding requirements and issues related to maintenance of their trash and recycling collection areas and enclosures. Altamonte Springs Land Development Code Section 4.4.4 requires that commercial properties (which includes industrial, office, and multi-family) be continually maintained in good repair. It is the responsibility of the property owner to provide continuous maintenance.
Parking Lot Maintenance - This handout has been prepared by the City to assist people in understanding requirements and issues related to parking lot maintenance. Altamonte Springs Land Development Code Section 3.41.6 requires that off-street parking shall be maintained to code standards and in good repair.
