The City of Altamonte Springs has a number of voluntary citizen boards which advise City Commissioners and staff in decision making processes. The seven standing boards are:

Board of Zoning Appeals

Purpose: To hear appeals concerning interpretation or administration of zoning regulations or for variance of zoning regulations.

Code Enforcement Board

Purpose: This board has jurisdiction and authority to hear and decide alleged violations of specified City Codes and ordinances as designated by the City Commission.

Health Facilities Authority

Purpose: It is essential for the citizens of Altamonte Springs to have access to adequate medical care and health facilities. The Health Facilities Authority assists in providing additional means for the development and maintenance of those facilities.

Personnel Administration Board

Purpose: Serves as a board of appeals for employees aggrieved by a decision of the executive authority resulting in termination, suspension for more than three (3) working days, or demotion resulting in more than a 10% reduction in annual salary.

Planning Board

Purpose: Responsible for guiding comprehensive planning process within the city.

In addition to the standing boards, from time to time members are appointed to ad hoc boards committees; i.e., Charter Review Committee and Redistricting Committee for reviewing commission district boundaries.
