Crime Analysis

Breadcrumbs

Crime analysis serves the needs of the police department and community by providing timely and pertinent analysis of information in support of tactical, strategic, and administrative planning.

Most police departments are now using analytical techniques to examine the nature and extent of criminal activity in their communities. Statistical analysis of data from the numerous computerized databases and the use of geographical information systems (GIS) mapping tools are some of the newest elements available to the local law enforcement arsenal. Research and analysis of regularly collected information on crimes, criminal offenders, and police investigations activities are converted into crime prevention initiatives, suspect/offender identification, and manpower allocation strategies.

Crime analysis also provides direct support to the community and its citizens by the researching and reporting of crime statistics for neighborhood watch groups and citizen requests that are in accordance with Florida Statute 119.07 Public Records Act requests. Click to download the Public Records Request.  All requests will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis where they do not interfere with routine police operations. The turn around on these requests typically average five to seven business days.
